Of all the neighborhoods in Dallas, the Bishop Arts District is my all time favorite! I’ve been hanging out there since my days as a college student, and I really appreciate all the efforts the city of Dallas has made to beautify and help grow this neighborhood. It’s a true gem. It’s located in the heart of Oak Cliff and it’s so charming!
So here are 3 reasons why you need to go:
1. Shopping: there are so many options to choose from at the Bishop Arts! Whether you’re there to go antiquing at OC Vintage or M’Antiques , shop for the latest trend at Strut, or find your next statement piece at Simply Austin…you’re bound to find somewhere to wander. So if you’re into shopping and finding unique items for your home or wardrobe, you’re sure to find your newest obsession at one of the boutiques in this neighborhood.
2. Eating: the hardest decision of my day is usually trying to figure out what I’m going to eat that day and it magnifies when I’m here! Sometimes I get so overwhelmed with that decision, that I do a bit of progressive dining. My favorite place there is Lockhart Smokehouse because a. It’s a Women-owned business, and b. it has the best BBQ in all of Dallas and I am not afraid to say that! When you’re there, you have to try their smoked turkey and deviled eggs. But again, so many options. Espussemo is perfect for just taking a shopping break, which is what we did so Zara could catch a breather with some ice cream.
3. Events: I know a lot of people don’t actually need a reason to celebrate… and neither does Bishop Arts. They always have fun events that celebrate different cultures everything from Wine Walks, American holidays, to French Holidays like Bastille Day, or even Christmas in July! They even have an annual Margarita Meltdown for all the margarita lovers out there! You can find a list of events on their website.
The Bishop Arts is always so fun and has so much going on for anyone wanting to get to know Dallas a little better!
